Mufor Atanga is an accomplished Senior Researcher at Langaa RPCIG, where he leads the Governance, Human Rights and Sustainable Development Cluster. With his extensive background in governance, peace and security issues in Africa, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Langaa’s focus on Governance, Peace and Security in Africa, and Sustainable Development.
Mufor’s contribution to the establishment of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is noteworthy. As the Head of the Support Office, he spearheaded the process of operationalizing the APRM, which remains the most ambitious governance initiative on the continent. Subsequently, he served as the Executive Secretary of the African Forum of Utility Regulators before venturing into the private sector.
Mufor has been a trailblazer since the 1990s, when he joined the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Buea. He has guest lectured in several African universities and institutions and holds several fellowships. Mufor has researched, consulted and published extensively on a wide range of development and governance issues in Africa, including geopolitics and strategy, democratic governance and human rights, peace and security, war economies, fragility, conflict resolution, disarmament, and post-conflict reconstruction. As a political economist, he also holds degrees in political science and history from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria. Mufor has numerous publications to his credit, including the following:
